The Music Tribunal ("we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1. Data We Collect
- Account data: name, email address, username.
- Profile data: country, age group, gender (provided during onboarding).
- Payment data: billing details processed and stored by our payment provider (Stripe). We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
- Activity data: votes cast, comments posted, sponsorship bids, page interactions.
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, device, and basic analytics needed to operate and secure the Platform.
2. How We Use Your Data
- Create and manage your account.
- Record your votes, comments, and sponsorship bids.
- Process payments for subscriptions, vote packs, and winning sponsorship bids.
- Send transactional notifications (e.g., outbid alerts, receipts, account messages).
- Improve the Platform, prevent fraud, and enforce our Terms.
3. Third-Party Services
- Stripe — payment processing for subscriptions, vote packs, and sponsorship charges.
- Spotify — embedded music previews on battle and Tribunal 500 pages. Your interactions with the embedded player are subject to Spotify's privacy policy.
- Hosting & infrastructure providers — used to store data and serve the Platform.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
4. Your Rights
- Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: update inaccurate information from your profile page.
- Deletion: request deletion of your account and associated personal data, subject to legal record-keeping obligations.
- Withdraw consent: cancel your subscription or stop using the Platform at any time.

5. Cookies
We use essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. We may use minimal first-party analytics to understand aggregate usage. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.
6. Data Retention
We retain account and activity data while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to comply with legal, accounting, and fraud-prevention obligations.
7. Security
Data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored on infrastructure with industry-standard access controls. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong, unique password.
8. Children
The Platform is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
9. Governing Law
This policy is governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada. For users in other jurisdictions, additional rights may apply under local law.
